Author Talk - Margaret Ruckert
Rockdale City Council presents a talk by
Margaret Ruckert introducing her book You Deserve Dessert: Fact, Fiction & Fable
About the book
You Deserve Dessert: Fact, Fiction & Fable, contains 124 pages of desserts, cakes and biscuits. But no, not
recipes. Instead over 100 creative texts allow the reader to sample desserts across time and space. (Two recipes are included to satisfy curiosity.) Cakes become characters in this book and readers will meet a
trio of proper tarts, the beast of mudcake, a fruit cake feigning holiness, crime caramel and a suave Sacher Torte.
The poetry of language acts as a sweetener across the collection. A delicious batch of poems in the shape of cup cakes is included free. Together with a ‘concrete poem’ latte.
When: Thursday 20 May, 1.00 pm
Where: Rockdale Council Chambers
448 Princes Highway, Rockdale
Cost: Free entry with light refreshments provided
Call: Rockdale City Library 9562 1821, bookings essential
Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing
